Affiliations & Patronages
Prince Hashim is the head of Alfaris International Horseback Archery competition and is interested in reviving traditional combat sports. He has more recently been working on expanding Alfaris by creating a broader organization called the Alfaris Traditional Combat sports Organization, which aims to host the Alfaris Traditional Combat Sports Festival which includes many other forms of traditional Arabian combat sports including wrestling and fencing. Prince Hashim is a proficient blade-smith and enjoys outdoor activities including camping and hiking.
Prince Hashim enjoys the outdoors, his pastimes include hiking camping and marksmanship. He is also a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu jitsu a discipline which he has been practicing when time has permitted for more than 10 years. He believes that wrestling/grappling which is the basis for Jiu jitsu is a metaphor for life and one of the perennial sports, and his interest in grappling partially stems from its firm roots in the Arabic and Islamic traditions. His Royal Highness is fluent in Arabic and English, and he is also a student of the Turkish language.
Waqf Thareed
Since early 2023 Prince Hashim has been involved in supporting a Jordanian charitable endowment called Thareed. It has been generously supported by His Majesty King Abdullah II as well as many members of the Jordanian business community as well as other notable institution including the Jordanian Armed Forces, which aims at providing daily meals no questions asked, starting in a location in central Amman close to the Hussaini Mosque.
Al-Faris Competition & Festival
Alfaris Committee in Jordan preserves and promotes the art of horseback archery and sports while fostering cultural heritage.
Alfaris Traditional Combat Sports initiative aims to promote the virtues and values of traditional Arab chivalry which epitomize in the meaning of goodness and honor. One of Alfaris’s main desires is to foster these values within society both in this region and the broader world. It aims to promote and showcase the culture and values of Arab Islamic Chivalry, thereby positively impacting the region and the world.
The Royal Committee for the Administration and Building of Islamic Shrines
Prince Hashim's leadership of The Royal Committee for the Administration and Building of Islamic Shrines between October 30, 2017, and October 3, 2021, showcased his commitment to preserving and maintaining the sacred Islamic shrines in Jordan.
