Early Life & Education
HRH Prince Hashim Bin Al Hussein was born on June 10, 1981 (8th of Shaban, 1401 Hijri) to His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal and Her Majesty Queen Noor. He is the 41st generation direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammad and the youngest brother of His Majesty King Abdullah II. Prince Hashim completed his primary education in Amman and later graduated from high school in the United States, in 1999.
Military Career
During HRH Prince Hashim’s career in the military, he rose through the ranks of the Special Operations Command, serving in all three of its branches — Special Forces, Counterterrorism, and the Rangers. In 2015, he was assigned command of the 61st Royal Rangers Battalion (Al Maghaweer) which entails specialization in urban, desert, and advanced mountain operations. Prince Hashim’s last active military role was as Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Special Forces and Rapid Reaction Forces.
Representative Functions
Prince Hashim accepted the appointment as His Majesty’s Chief Royal Councilor, as per the Royal Decree issued on January 12, 2017, a role he fulfilled until September 2020. Following this, he assumed leadership responsibilities as the head of "The Royal Committee for the Administration and Building of Islamic Shrines" from October 30, 2017, until October 3, 2021.
Affiliations & Patronages
Prince Hashim is the head of Alfaris International Horseback Archery competition and is interested in reviving traditional combat sports. He has more recently been working on expanding Alfaris by creating a broader organization called the Alfaris Traditional Combat sports Organization, which aims to host the Alfaris Traditional Combat Sports Festival which includes many other forms of traditional Arabian combat sports including wrestling and fencing. Prince Hashim is a proficient blade-smith and enjoys outdoor activities including camping and hiking.
Marriage & Family
On January 6, 2006, His Royal Highness Prince Hashim married Her Royal Highness Princess Fahdah and they have five children: Their Royal Highnesses Princess Haalah born in April 2007, Princess Raiyah born in July 2008, Princess Aliyah born in November 2011, Prince Al Hussein born in June 2015 and Prince Al Hassan born in October 2019.
